Join our audition class on May 20th! Sign-up beforehand (button above) or walk-in and sign up. Each dancer will be cast in a dance appropriate to their skill level, experience, and attendance. Technique will be modern, jazz, and lyrical based. There will be an opportunity for dancers with training in other styles (such as ballet, hip hop, and tap) to choreograph for their fellow classmates.
This one month trial is FREE for all students. Dancers only need appropriate rehearsal clothing: well fitted leggings, sweatpants or shorts, clean sneakers or bare feet, and well fitted t-shirts, tank tops, or leotards. (If dance shoes are required, we will work with local dance studios or resale shops to source shoes for all.)
Dance Performance Workshop Typical rehearsal: 3:30-4:15 Technique class
Warm-up focused on core strength, cardio, and stretching.
Center technique exercises
Across the floor exercises focused on various rhythms, time signatures, and dance vocabulary.
Center work learning phrases and memorizing sequences of movement.
4:15-4:25 short water/bathroom break 4:25-5:30 Creation time In this period the dancers will either be learning a full group piece or be split up into small groups. Some dancers may have some down time to stretch or watch, some dancers may be working in smaller sections around the stage or in the library. This will be the time they are learning, creating, working together toward the showing on June 6th. In these 10 rehearsals I expect we can create 5 pieces. One large group piece, and 4 smaller pieces (quartets, trios, duets.) Featuring a few of the more experienced dancers, or the people who are most committed. These details really depend on the people who show up, so we will remain flexible as to what it looks like.
